47 mi, 2,900 ft, Sullivan Canyon and Murphy Ranch - Ride Leader : Bob Kellogg
Sullivan Canyon is unofficially open but the smooth, wide fire road we rode in January is gone. It's still rideable, just a bit more rugged. Once we climb out of the canyon, we'll head down Sullivan Ridge and check out some newly exposed trails around Murphy Ranch. When we rode up Sullivan Ridge last month, the fire had exposed some trails that were previously well hidden. They looked possibly rideable, so we'll check them out as well.
The ride starts at Manhattan Beach Pier at 8:30, but you can cut out about 25 road miles by starting in Santa Monica. Because of the unknown condition of the trails, this is probably best for intermediate riders on a gravel or mountain bike. Please coordinate with the ride leader if you plan to start somewhere other than MB Pier.
